Day after Patch 2.0: shooting debate, steals feel nerfed, and #1 REP Cashout banned
PS5 and Xbox players spent a full day on v2.0 while PC and Switch 2 wait until October 16. Creators and Rec players disagree on how easy shooting got, and the top REP account was banned overnight.

Official updates
- Official No new patch today. 2K’s page still lists v2.0 for October 8 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with Nintendo Switch 2 and PC on October 16 — the same day Season 2 begins. Uniform updates in the notes also say they land after a roster update before Season 2 on October 16. (2K patch notes (v2.0))
- Official @NBA2K posted that Update 2.0 is live (about 861 likes and 131K views when we checked). Ronnie2K quote-posted Evan’s notes thread earlier in the day (about 225 likes). (@NBA2K on X · @Ronnie2K on X)
What the community is talking about
- Community - verify First full Rec day after v2.0 split the feed. _oFAB says shooting is too easy — he made 15 threes off a random jumper in solo Rec (about 10 likes on that post; his earlier “offense so easy” take had about 231 likes). Joey 2K’s first-game notes (about 1.9K likes) call Limitless “back,” praise dribbling, and say low-adrenaline steals feel very slow, while warning open looks might be a bit too easy. LaMonsta’s first-game video is titled steals nerfed and shooting broken (about 32K views). (@_oFAB on X · @_oFAB on X · @Joey2KYT on X · LaMonsta (YouTube))
- Community - verify r/NBA2k day-one writeups go both ways. One poster who logged about 20 Rec games says 99 three-point PGs can hit contested looks at a high clip. Another argues the patch weeds out bad defenders and that contests feel stronger when you actually jump. Treat both as unverified feel reports — 2K hasn’t posted a follow-up. (r/NBA2k: 20 Rec games · r/NBA2k: defense take)
- Community - verify Overnight, creator Solo posted that #1 REP player xCashout YT was permanently banned for account sharing (about 1.7K likes and 72K views). A reaction stream from eeglou had about 13K views. 2K has not posted an official statement about that account on the channels we checked — treat the reason and permanence as community reports. Creator tests after v2.0
- Creator/guide NBA2KLab spent the day posting short breakdowns: every shooting change (about 526 likes / 38K views on X), defense and steals penalty (about 215 likes), and a steals/adrenaline update (about 238 likes). Their YouTube shorts on shooting, steals, and passing after the patch each sat in the mid-30K to high-30K view range when we checked. - Creator/guide Reaction videos kept climbing overnight. Joe Knows’ “Patch 2.0 just released” is about 176K views, and his follow-up “everyone going crazy” is about 78K. SiimplyGrinding’s early Season 2 patch test is about 70K. Joey 2K’s “fun again” upload is about 39K. None of these replace the official notes — they’re first-feel coverage. Build & attribute meta
- Creator/guide Build creators are already shipping post-patch Rec tapes. COLETHEMAN’s 2016 Steph Curry build with 99 three-point is about 34K views. RyanCantMiss’s “#1 center” after 2.0 is about 18K. Cheeze2K’s “point center” is about 15K. Re-test any pre-patch guide — ghost contests and steal penalties change how those attributes play. (COLETHEMAN (YouTube) · RyanCantMiss (YouTube) · Cheeze2K (YouTube))
- Creator/guide Jumpshot shopping spiked again after the patch. Chad Benz’s updated “best jumpshots for all builds” is about 33K views, and xUncleCaino posted a “best jumpshot after the recent patch” clip (about 14K). CourtCraft doesn’t cover jumpers — use NBA2KLab for that. (Chad Benz (YouTube) · xUncleCaino (YouTube) · NBA2KLab)
What changed on CourtCraft
- Official Optimize still uses the Patch 2.0 (Oct 8, 2026) meta we shipped yesterday. Rise Up keeps the small Bronze/Silver boost and the Gold+ Sep 17 boost. No new official numbers landed today for contests, mid-range, steals, or Takeovers, and community feel reports don’t meet our bar for another weight change. Badge thresholds are unchanged. PC and Switch 2 players still wait until October 16. (2K patch notes (v2.0) · CourtCraft Optimize)
